Isn't it nice that our government supports monopolies like Microsoft?

  2. They all went on break (supposedly to vote) at 8:35 MDT. Now that's dedication!

They asked Bodman to wait and he said that he had other commitments and may not be able to stay. I momentarily sensed a spine! But it was probably a false alarm...

  3. Supposed to be back in session at 11:15 (9:15 LANL time), but there is no sign of life at 9:20.

  4. High noon in DC and no return to the soapbox yet! Perhaps they forgot about LANL?

  5. It will be telling if Bodman is still in the vicinity if they actually return. If he is, then the Congress has succeeded in holding a cabinet member hostage for two hours.

  6. Looks like they are reconvening and, what do you know?, bodman is still there. Mike just walked into the picture, too.

  7. Back in session, but no audio...

  8. It's NOT Bodman. He took a hike. It's Friedman.

  9. Mike says, "It's not the contractor that causes the problems..."

  10. They played softball. Mikey has been let off the hook.

There was a teensy bit of posturing by Stupak, but it was a virtual love-fest in comparison to the previous hearing.

Those of you hoping for Congressional intervention at LANL can forget about it. LANS is here for the duration.

  11. What a joke.

  12. Definitely softball.

After the extended voting break, Bodman didn't return, nor did half of the committee. With no audience, I think Stupak decided to just get through the questioning and call it a Friday.

Time to leave neverland, folks. This was never going to happen, since from the point of view of Congress, LANS is not the problem; LANL staff is the problem. That's the spin. You are not going to fix it via the blog.

  14. Silence is NOT golden when it comes to pressing for change. This blog is an important sounding board because even though Congress itself may be too lazy to do its job, this blog puts pressure on it to stop pretending everything is peachy-keen at Los Alamos. Without this blog Lab managment would be singing this tune and Congress would be nodding in blissful ignorance to the soothing chant of alls well in La-La land. But this blog proves otherwise, and as more and more media picks up on the issues appearing on this blog it forces Congress to wake up from its stupor. Granted, it takes a lot to get this to happen, but it's not impossible. So never give up hope. That's exactly what the henchmen at LANL would want you to do.

  15. Yeah, that's right. Even if it is little green wo/men that try to sort out what happended on planet Earth a million years from now, the more information and misinformation they have to sort through, the better they will be able to see what happened, and it will perhaps help them determine what they should do with their relatively short existences in time.

  16. Not sure what little green men have to do with anything. Real men are what matter.

  17. Real men/women at LANL willing to do something that involves a spine ... we got none of those
