Lecturer harvests meaning in the universe

A celebrity scientist who believes "we are the point" wants to help humans realize that we are deeply and meaningfully at home in the universe.
Contrary to the pessimistic mood of our age and despite the fact that we are nearly inconspicuous in the big picture of the cosmos, we are in an extraordinary place, says Joel R. Primack, a professor of physics at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
Primack will deliver the 37th J. Robert Oppenheimer Memorial lecture at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Duane Smith Auditorium.
His talk takes its title from the book he co-authored with his wife, Nancy Ellen Abrams, "The View from the Center of the Universe."
