BREAKING NEWS -- THIS IS HUGE!

From the this issue of the NewsBulletin, regarding the Fall Festival:

"Registration has ended, but all employees are welcome to attend and each may still bring up to five guests. Check the festival Web site for more information."

Wow.

  2. For the love of god and mikey, please, please come to the fall festival. PLEASE! Oh, the humanity. Doesn't anyone care about the children? THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

And as a side note, LANS posterchild Espy who declared in Nature "I just bought a new house!", still hasn't sold her old house. Good luck with that Michele!

  3. I am surprised that attendance is not mandatory.

  4. I wouldn't be surprised if word didn't start filtering down this week telling the group leaders to "encourage" staff to attend.

After her wonderful lapdog performance in Nature, perhaps LANS can find a way to purchase it from her as a way to help this poor girl out.

They could at least pay to have her attend Personal Finance 101 so she can learn how to manage bankruptcy.

  8. Poster 9:02 AM has it about right. You'll likely see a big push on Division and Group Leaders to attend and to get their staff to come along. Mike and company don't want to be completely embarrassed by their 'very bad idea'. It's all about saving face at this point.

Hey, maybe they could announce a raffle. Those who win it are given a Fellow's position and guaranteed never to be laid off. That would generate some attendance!

  9. If you are too angry to comment without advocating violence then take a few minutes to calm down first. I'm not going to publish comments anything like the one I just rejected. You know who you are.

  10. It sound like some folks are really beginning to blow their tops and about to go 'postal'. Maybe having mandatory stress-reduction classes at LANL wouldn't be such a bad idea. The anger out there seems to be growing rapidly.

Chill-out, take a deep breath. Life goes on whether you are working at LANL or perhaps some much better place.

  11. Nothing a handle of Crown a week won't fix.

  12. Crown is rot-gut. Dewars is much better stuff. A little cheaper, too.

Of course, during the brighter days at LANL, a worker could afford to splurge on a reasonably priced single malt Scotch like 10 year old Laphroaig. The pending RIF has put an end to those days, damnit!

Drink responsible, at least until the 'Day of the Pink Slips' arrives.

I don't know. It all starts to taste the same after the 10th shot or so.

  15. I hear Mike will be serving kool aid. Drink up!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Will that Kool-Aid be served up in cups with the logo "No RIF and no plans for a RIF"?

  17. I just looked at the LANL site and learned that alcohol and pets are banned. I'm staying home.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Maybe that's a typo... as a reference to pet safety. 'Don't drink and pet'.

    ReplyDelete
  19. "Alcohol and pets are not allowed" according to the website. Only my dog and my booze is going to get me through lunch with Mikey. Guess I'll stay home.
