Dear Pinky and The Brain, Please post this anonymously... Thank you. While browsing the web for scientist jobs today, I happened to come across these job ads. So, if there was ever any doubt as to the direction of LANL from the NNSA, this pretty much clinches it. Not an editorial comment or any other observation intended except to provide proof of NNSA's intentions, as actions speak louder than words. Best Regards 10. ReplyDeleteRight?
These 4 job ads are all for the same job - only one opening.
ReplyDeleteFurther review of the current openings include a fire protection engineer, system engineer, etc. The system engineer posting may be for multiple openings.
There are a lot of other openings posted as well for scientists and postdocs for various programs. I guess I could pull those out as proof of the opposite point you are making by posting these selected ones? Wise up.

ReplyDeleteYes, you are right! But if you examine the FEDERAL job list in New Mexico, you will find that the physical science jobs that aren't administering Nuclear Facilities are in Albq. and other places in southern New Mexico. The fact that these jobs were posted with relatively short fuses would allow one to infer that actions will be coming soon.
As for your other statements, only time will tell. It would be interesting to compare notes in several years, as no one here can really see the future! By the way, if you can, there is a 1 million dollar prize waiting for you from the James Randi foundation--you only need to prove it.
As best I can tell, there's no point to this post, nor any of the comments associated with it. So DOE is hiring in the LASO, and has managed to post the same job 4X. Big deal.
ReplyDeleteApply for the job if you want, but it's not evidence of a vast conspiracy against LANL -- nor evidence of the absence of the same.
Some people won't believe the pit factory scenario for LANL until the facility is constructed, the jobs profile completely changes, and the LANL name is switched over to Los Alamos Pit Facility (LAPF). Even then, they'll probably still be questioning whether LANL is *really* changing directions. The clueless continue to amaze me at this place.
ReplyDeleteJobs posted with a "short fuse" means that cronies have already been selected to fill them.
ReplyDeleteThe "pit factory" is already a reality. Whether this is all that LANL will be doing in the future remains to be seen, but that destiny is not entirely owned by others. Those of us that still work at LANL have a say in this.

There is not a Bechtel Los Alamos....What are you trying to say, or are you just stupid
9:14am, it is not a stretch to understand that 9:35 is referring to jobs listed at the bechtel hdqtrs website for positions located in los alamos. Or are you just stupid?

No, I went to the Bechtel web site and there was No Bechtel Los Alamos, and there were NO jobs posted for Los Alamos.
...but I guess I am just plain stupid.
No shortage of stupidity on this blog, that's for sure.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everybody, for making that clear.

...and thanks for clarifying that. I do not think anyone was aware of the issue.
It's my understanding that Bechtel employees who come to LANL from another DOE facility get to compute their LANL years as if they had been working here during their entire Bechtel/DOE career.
ReplyDeleteBechtel doesn't want to transfer just any worker to LANL. They want to reserve the transfers for their oldest employees so they can dump responsibilities for accrued benefits onto LANS back.
Thus, don't expect to see ads on the Bechtel site for Los Alamos positions. That would ruining the whole idea of using LANL as a convenient dumping ground.
