"Get the insight you need on what's next for the weapons complex sites"
ReplyDeleteI think we already have that answer from NNSA. It involves less involvment in science and greater emphasis on production. It also involves paying for the new production comples through the implementation of 30% cuts in high-tech jobs throughout the complex.
Think of it as a government "job stimulus" program run in reverse.
Think of it as giving Russia card-blanche. And let's not forget Iran. Thank you NNSA.
ReplyDeleteTauscher is both a supporter of RRW and critic of NNSA's handling of the national labs (especially the one in her home district - LLNL). Unfortunately for LLNL, as Chair of the House Subcommittee on Strategic Forces she has been very even handed and not show as much favoritism towards her home district lab as some (Pete D).
ReplyDeleteFrom the conference agenda:
ReplyDelete"Special Session ... the Daunting Decision Facing the New Administration.
Nuclear Stockpile or ´Zero Weapons.´
Ambassador Linton Brooks, former NNSA Administrator.
Jan Lodal, co-author, The Logic of Zero ... a World Without Nuclear Weapons.
Ron Lehman, co-chair, Non-Proliferation Policy Advisory Group, Senate Foreign Relations Committee."
"Holy crap, I thought unilateral disarmament was so discredited after the 1980s that nobody would be crazy enough to suggest it in the age of terror. This is the dumbest, most naive suggestion I have ever heard. The nuclear genie is out of the bottle. The idea that the US should give up nukes while rogue regimes and terrorists will ultimate get them is ludicrous."
