The push for LANL pit production continues

Pit Program

"Several independent groups have reviewed pit production and determined that Los Alamos is the appropriate group to go ahead with pit production."

"But this is a world of self-justification."

As the traditional weapons budget begins a slow decline, LANS will use pit production to help fill in the budgetary gaps. It is a much easier path for a lazy LANS executive team to follow rather than the hard work which would be required to truly diversify the lab.

They have no true interest in real diversity. Just look at the MaRIE decision if you need any further evidence. When MaRIE was announced, it was stated by Mike and Terry that they felt that NNSA would be one of the prime funders of this new effort. That's was passes for project "diversity" at LANL these days.

How come that guy in the picture's hair doesn't match his mustache?

12:40PM. That's what happens when you spend too much time around Pu Pits.

Did anyone notice that Mara moved his son to Los Alamos and brought him on-board at LANL before the contract decision was made? Would he have done this if he hadn't already known the winner(LANS)? Why did Jay Johnson also change his mind about staying before the announcement was made? Seems he talked to Dir. Bob then changed his mind and stayed. Think about that when you wonder if the bidding and award were fair and above board.

There have been lots of reports about how the bidding and award were not fair. How can anyone trust a process where only two entities bid, one already manages a national lab, and it was not awarded the management of LANL?

How fair was it for Alan Bishop and others to spend weeks in California at the taxpayers' expense helping LANS write its response to the RFP?

Now listen here, 4:35. Bechtel bought the LANL contract fair and sq...

Er, I mean: you're right. The bidding was rigged.

LANL would have been better off if Lockmart had won the competition and they had brought the SNL style of management to LANL. What we have now is a thin veneer of UC supposedly running the show with Bechtel pulling the important strings.

LANL will soon be just like the other Bechtel facilities which they operate for the DOE. The emphasis will be on down-sizing, low wages, production work, meaningless tasks, and making a profit for Bechtel. Anyone at the labs who oppose them in these endeavors will be quickly eliminated from the workforce.

Geez, somebody needs to give these upper level managers serious make-overs...Time to call in Queer Eye for the Straight Guy.

Huh? You mean Mara is straight? But our shoes touched up on the 7th floor stalls. I don't understand?

Duh, it is called a toupe. Sometimes he even has it on crooked. Not a good thing to wear in NM in the springtime with those awful winds - hold on!!!

I'm always suspicious of bald guys who feel so insecure that they feel they must cover up their baldness with a toupe. They're not fooling anybody.

Mara should just go ahead and shave his whole head, lose a few pounds (or maybe a lot of pounds in his case!), and take on the Kojak look.

For extra points he could ditch the nice suit and start wearing a black leather jacket with lots of metal studs and put on a pair of Doc Johnsons. Oi, oi, oi!
