The Latest

From a contributor:

Straight from TW meeting this morning:

LANS rif plan won't be out until after Oct 19 comment period ends. The plan will allow 10 day decision period, 10 day processing, and you're out by Thanksgiving. A bonus may be included to convince enough people to leave now.

My only question is: What is a TW?

A carving fork so that you know when your goose is cooked would be appropriate.

And some stuffing for Thanksgiving.

TW? You can't figure out TW? Come on... Put that little thinking cap on.

LANL Rocky Flats Replacement Pit Production Facility Transition Workgroup, or TW for short.

No, no, no. It's got to be Terry (I look good in a leather jacket, *and* my mommy is really really proud of me) Wallace.

Cows look good in leather, too. Cows look natural in leather. I like leather on cows.

Its fun to screw with the anti-lanl trolls. Anybody at lanl knows what and who had a restructuring meeting this morning.

I've got a sneaking suspicion that the 'anti-lanl trolls' were screwing back a little bit.

Not only do cows look better in leather than TW, but they don't emit nearly as much hot air out their asses as TW does from his lips.

OK - so the point of this thread is...?

The TW meeting was interesting. However, the charts of headcount over the years, attrition rate over the years and the budgets over the years, was missing one page: a chart of G&A cost versus year, especially with that little bulge that happened in 2006. Odd that nothing was said about the NM tax this time.

Seems that potential retirees have been sticking like ticks on LANL this past year, combined with the decreased DP budgets. Maybe the upcoming VRIF with TWs 'Lamborgini' Cracker Jack prize might shake a few off.

Lots of new info was supplied, most of which can be found if you dig deep enough. Looks like we'll the action in a week or two if NNSA quits dragging it out. Apparently they don't like incentives, since DOE doesn't give deals at Forrestal Bldg. DOE likely resents lab employees, who are maybe smarter, definitely paid better.

Other newsworthy items?
Representative Hobson is retiring! Domenici is retiring! Dems are angry *sigh* again, and are planning yet another GAO audit of LANL to grab some headliners and make another splash, perhaps Wen Ho Lee to be regurgitated umpteenth time. Stay tuned, exciting times ahead.

Well, I did not know that TW bought a Lamborgini. He is really flashing his earnings these days ... fancy designer house, new car ... so what color is it?

Anonymous said...

It's sort of a pinkish, pale color, and it's kind of small.

Oh, wait. You meant the Lamborgini...

11:55, I agree, we'll see.

I spoke to a couple of late 50s guys who aren't double-dippers. They said the financial gain in salary and pension by working another year or two exceeded whatever would be offered. Scratch a couple of potential retirees this round.

That does it. I'm changing my name to Porky.

Oh, wait. You meant the Lamborgini...

Yeah, been trying to figure how he can fit his fat arse in such a small car.

Been seeing a lot of examples of conspicuous consumption at LANL of late. It's pretty obvious that a few of the top managers are doing very well these days and they don't even care to hide the new wealth. Rather tacky, if you ask me.

Anonymous said...

Actually the conspicuous consumption shows that they don't care about anyone but themselves and totally plan on f-ing anyone and everyone. Thank you Terry. I hope you have a great time tomorrow explaining how you f-ed them over this year. You will go down in history as a bigger SOB than Nanos. And to think, Nanos did not think much of you and never wanted to hire you as ADSR. First good decision the Admiral ever made and somehow your momma got you hired...

Someday soon, Terry's mom will get him positioned as LANL's next Director. His mom will be so proud of her little boy on that special day!

Blast from the past. As I recall, Nanos let Micheline Devaurs act as the ADSR.

And as I recall, she did a pretty good job. That is what did her in ... and the fact that she doesn't have a phd.
